New Year, new work and workshops
The New Year has started well with two lino workshops in different venues, I've started some new work which I will share soon and some other exciting news which will be revealed in due course.
My lino workshops have been well attended and the first one was a Beginners Lino Print workshop at Westhope College, near Craven Arms in Shropshire. This is a lovely venue in the Shropshire countryside and the course includes a light lunch and refreshments throughout the day. The students start off by cutting a test block to enable them to get used to cutting the Japanese silk vinyl that we use, ink it up and print using a small etching press:
Then using an image, drawing or photo of the students own they cut a larger block and then print this in their choice of colour:

The second of my lino workshops took place in a different setting, the workshop at Birmingham Printmakers and this was an intermediate workshop, Introduction to Reduction Lino Printing where one block is used to cut away from and two to three separate layers of colour can be printed from the same block. Although this is an intermediate course I had beginners on this workshop who did very well and coped with the more complicated techniques of this process:
