'Reflecting Waterfall'

This is one of my pieces that I entered for an outdoor exhibition called 'Inside Out' in the village of Llanarmon D.C. in the Upper Ceiriog Valley. Over thirty artists entered the exhibition and it was opened by the broadcaster Mavis Nicholson to whom my daughter was asked to present some flowers.

My piece is inspired by water that flows through the village and mainly by a small waterfall which lies directly opposite the piece - hence it is called 'Reflecting Waterfall'. I have screenprinted my own design onto aluminium in a turquoise blue - the colour being inspired from colours in Venice; which is another theme that I have been working on.

Wow, was this hard? What kind of ink did you use?

Hi Tina

It wasn't too difficult. I used a large screen for printing and the 'ink' was acrylic paint and print medium - although you have to be careful not to scratch the surface after as the print may come off.

I don't know much about mediums. Did you add that to the acrylic paint to thicken it for screenprinting?

Hi Tina
The acrylic screen printing medium is by Daler Rowney and is for use with their acrylic paints. It slows down the drying time of the paint and reduces the risk of screen blocking.

Where can I get this? Do you know of any other brands that have screen printing mediums?

Hi Tina
There are quite a few places here in the UK that sell this. In the USA Dick Blick seems to sell the System3 acrylic paint but not sure if they sell the medium. There is a different print medium for textiles as well - Textile Medium, but I have not tried this one. You need to get the acrylic print medium for paper.
Try following this link to the Daler Rowney website about the print medium and then the link to the stockists which may give you places to buy in the USA:

Hope you have success in finding it
