Creative Sketchbook workshop with printmaker Sue Brown

This Saturday I was very excited to take part in printmaker Sue Brown's Creative Sketchbook Workshop organised by Twenty Twenty Gallery in Much Wenlock.

Sue had developed this workshop as a tool for us too loosen up in our artwork and to  create work every day in our sketchbooks.  This could then be used as inspiration later on in order to reduce the feelings of lack of inspiration that happens to us all from time to time.

This was just what I needed and techniques that Sue taught us included gum arabic transfer, acrylic transfer, adding washes of ink and creating more interest on the pages with stamps, acrylic paint and bleach. Some of these techniques I have tried to perfect before, using various books, and have failed miserably.  Sue was very generous in her teaching and really packed a lot into the day - everything that we learnt normally runs over a two day workshop.

We were also treated to a superb lunch of which was very welcoming as we were very hungry by lunchtime because we were so engrossed in the workshop.  Below are a selection of sketchbooks that were produced on the day:

Hi Sandra
Thank you, glad you like the work - it really was fun and I found myself in that lovely 'zone' when you forget everything else and start creating.

I would call your sketchbooks "Artist's books"! Isn't it lovely to do a workshop, so inspiring to be with other creative people.

Yes they are artists books - I just called them as they were in the title of the workshop. It was lovely to just be creative and be in the 'zone' (well almost - switching off!)
